A day of romance and indulgence for you and your love on the waterfront…
Between the food, drink and gorgeous views, there can be few better places to celebrate Valentine’s Day than the glittering waterfront of Tāmaki Makaurau. So, we thought we’d make some suggestions for your day / evening of indulgence, all conveniently located on Wynyard Quarter’s luxurious Jellicoe Street…
If you’re doing a whole day of decadence, we’d recommend starting off with lunch and coffee at Rushworth (the MacGregor Brothers’ flagship café at 17 Jellicoe Street) to discuss the day ahead, before stopping by The Conservatory (a “living bar” at E1/17 Jellicoe Street) for a summery glass of Pimm’s along with good vibes and conversation. They even have a Spotify playlist to get you in the mood!
As the arvo progresses, drop into Good George North Wharf (1 Jellicoe Street) for an ice-cold, limited-edition Negroni Spiced Gin. For cheese lovers, Whitestone Cheese Bar (1/17 Jellicoe Street) would make a delicious next stop, with a sophisticated glass of wine at Wynyard Pavilion (17 Jellicoe Street).
And dinner? Well, for seafood-lovers, there’s stir-fried shredded abalone at the Chinese Seafood Paradise Restaurant & Bar (22 Jellicoe Street) or the Wynyard Roll (we do like that name…) sushi at the Japanese Moshi Moshi (39 Jellicoe Street). If you fancy some kai that’s a little more land-based, might we suggest a decadent wood-fired pizza or delectable vegan tacos at North Park (49, 37/63 Jellicoe Street)?
For dessert, it has to be a frozen treat from Gelatiamo or Amore Gelato (both 1/17 Jellicoe Street), which we’d recommend eating during a scenic stroll along Auckland’s incredible Waitematā Harbour as the sun sets (if you can take your eyes off each other, that is).
Time for one last cheeky drink, this time a Coconut Inn cocktail at The Good Luck Coconut (39 Jellicoe Street), where you can toast to a 2022 - and each other.
Of course, remember your vaccine passes, as you’ll need them for every venue, and to drink within your limits!
